Wind power in Sri Lanka

Project developers Seguwantivu Wind Power and Vidatamunai Wind Power (Pvt) Ltd are to build two 10 megawatt wind plants on the east coast of Puttalam.

The two companies awarded Agility Logistics the contract for shipping, overland transport and delivery of wind turbines and the equipment for the installation of the plants.

"Agility Logistics was chosen on the basis of the company’s global expertise in handling large scale turnkey projects," said Manjula Perera, chief executive officer of Seguwantivu Wind Power and Vidatamunai Wind Power (Pvt) Ltd.

"The first shipment of the two projects arrived in the Colombo port in mid November, and the wind turbines have been ordered from Gamesa Wind Technologies of Spain."
