Abengoa Solar enters thirteen solar plants in the pre-allocation registry for Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) in Spain

The list includes thirteen Abengoa Solar plants that comply with all of the legal requirements. According to regulations, registered plants will be able to sell power to the grid under the feed-in tariff system over four stages between 2010 and 2013. The thirteen new plants, each with a power output capacity of 50 megawatts , are grouped into five solar platforms:

* Solúcar Solar Complex, located in Sanlúcar la Mayor (Seville), where construction is being completed on three plants included in the registry.
* Écija Complex (Seville), where two plants are under construction.
* Ciudad Real Complex, where construction will begin on two plants in 2010.
* Carpio Complex (Córdoba), where construction of two plants will commence in 2010.
* Extremadura Complex in Logrosán (Cáceres), where four plants will be built in different stages.

The thirteen power stations, with a total output capacity of 650 megawatts, will supply electricity to 334,000 households, and will avoid the emission of 408,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.

These 650 megawatts, together with the 31 megawatts currently in operation at the PS10 and PS20 solar power towers, will allow us to have an output capacity totaling 681 megawatts in Spain in CSP by mid-2013.

The new platforms will create around seven thousand jobs -direct and indirect- during construction, and more than 500 permanent positions associated with plant operation. In some of these plants Abengoa Solar will work with partners.

Santiago Seage, CEO of Abengoa Solar, underscored the significance of the inclusion of these thirteen plants in the registry, "which will enable us to create five technologically advanced solar platforms in some of the areas with the best conditions in Spain. The experience we are presently acquiring will continue to acquire over the period between 2010 and 2013 will allow us to continue to invest in improving our technology and reducing generating costs, which will be a key factor in the definitive rollout of Concentrating Solar Power technology in Spain and around the world."

Abengoa Solar focuses its activity on the development and application of technologies for generating electrical power with the sun.
