Located at Bookmans Entertainment Exchange at Ina and Thornydale in Tucson, the charging station is the second installation at Bookmans retailing locations. The first unveiling took place on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at the Bookmans Tucson location at Grant and Campbell.

“Arizona has made a significant commitment to lowering carbon emissions and reducing our dependence on imported oil,” said Richard Lowenthal, CEO of Coulomb Technologies. “Throughout 2009, we have worked closely with the Tucson Regional Clean Cities Coalition to raise awareness of the need for infrastructure for electric vehicles. The opening of the second location of networked charging stations is another step in bringing electric vehicles to the masses in Arizona.”

“This is just another step in helping to ensure electric vehicle charging is available, easy to use and helps us to reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil,” said Tucson Regional Clean Cities Manager Colleen Crowninshield.

Pima Association of Governments is an association of local, state and tribal governments with a mission to build consensus among its members and the public on regional planning for transportation, air quality and water quality.

Clean Cities is a voluntary program of the U.S. Department of Energy to expand the use of alternatives to gasoline and diesel fuel, accelerate the use of alternative fuel vehicles and build a local refueling infrastructure for these vehicles.

Coulomb Technologies’ ChargePoint Networked Charging Stations for electric vehicles addresses the needs of drivers, utilities, governments and parking space owners enabling drivers to charge their electric vehicles wherever they live, work and shop. ChargePoint Networked Charging Stations are available in pole, wall-mount and bollard charging station models, ranging in capability from 120 Volt to 240 Volt AC charging to future 500 Volt DC charging.
