Uruguay will increase electricity production from wind power

Uruguayan Administration Electric Power Generation and Transmission (UTE) will increase to 20 megawatts of potential electricity generation by wind energy, reported today a statement from the state entity.

According to the source, UTE (Usinas y Transmisiones Eléctricas) received five wind turbines from the Danish company Vestas, that will join the Wind Farm Sierra de Caracoles, located in the department of Maldonado adjacent to the capital.

At that site, run five wind turbines with a height of 105 meters and now with this quintet, with similar characteristics, strengthening the productive inputs.

According to experts of the Ministry of Industry and Energy, the Uruguay goal is to reach 2015 with 300 megawatts produced with the help of the wind power.

Projects such as the Sierra de los Caracoles seek to diversify and achieve energy sovereignty and achieve rational use of electricity, highlighting technical and corporate management
