Suzlon wins 30 MW wind energy order from Altrade Group in Rajasthan

Suzlon Energy Limited (SEL), the world’s third leading and India’s largest wind turbines manufacturer, has won a 30 MW order from Altrade Group through its two group companies – Tarini Minerals Private Limited and M/S Indrani Patnaik.

Suzlon will set up, operate and maintain the wind energy project to be installed at wind farms in the Jaisalmer and Jodhpur districts of Rajasthan. The wind farm project will comprise of 20 units of Suzlon’s S82 – 1.5 MW wind turbines and will be commissioned by January 2011.

Orissa-based Altrade Group focuses primarily on the iron ore mining industry and is further diversifying into the real estate and hospitality sectors. This project is the Group’s maiden venture into wind energy, and once completed will generate enough electricity to power over 6,000 households.

The Group also has plans to register the projects under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). The project will extend Suzlon’s leadership of the Rajasthan wind energy market taking the total installed base to over 700 MW.
