Draka Offshore Selected for Gode Wind II Offshore Wind Farm

Draka Offshore announced they have been selected by PNE WIND AG as the technical development partner responsible for designing the subsea inter-array power system for the Gode Wind II offshore wind power project.

"Draka has more than 30 years of experience in engineering and manufacturing subsea power cables," said Martin Dale, commercial director for the subsea operations for Draka Offshore. The Gode Wind II wind energy project will supply the potential energy requirement of 240,000 to 400,000 households. According to the permit from the Bundesamt fur Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie (BSH) the wind farm comprises eighty wind turbines, each capable of producing 3-5 megawatts and is situated in Germany’s North Sea region (EEZ), 32.5 kilometers north of the island Nordeney.

With technical partners like Draka Offshore now in place, the chief representatives of the PNE WIND AG, Thorsten Fastenau (Offshore) and Roland Stanze (Business Development), who also act as business managers of the project company PNE Gode Wind II, stated they were confident that they would be able to successfully manage the "Gode Wind II" project to begin realization in 2011/2012.
