The launch ceremony for the ParisTech-Renault Foundation Masters in “Mobility and Electric Vehicles”, a new program 100% dedicated to electric vehicles developed by the Renault Corporate Foundation in association with ParisTech, will be held on October 12.
The course, taught at four ParisTech engineering schools, Arts et Métiers ParisTech, ENSTA ParisTech, Mines ParisTech and Ponts ParisTech will bring engineers specialist training in the technologies required for the design and production of future electric cars.
A unique program in France
The official launch will be held on October 12, 2010 in the presence of Patrick Pélata, Chief Operating Officer of Renault and a Director on the Renault Foundation board, and Cyrille Van Effenterre, Chairman of ParisTech. The event will also be attended by personalities from academia and research, together with public authorities, industrialists and students. The proceedings will kick off at 6.30 pm at Arts et Métiers in Paris.
A sixteen-month course dedicated to new forms of mobility
Mindful of the new skills required for the technological revolution of zero-emission vehicles, the Renault Foundation and ParisTech have, in partnership with the Sustainable Mobility Institute, developed an ambitious program 100% dedicated to new forms of mobility and electric vehicles in particular. The Masters course, lasting sixteen months includes four phases.
After a three-month period covering the main issues in sustainable mobility, students choose one of the following options:
– mastering electric vehicle energy: electro-mechanical conversions, static conversions and storage,
– electric vehicle architecture and design: engineering for the mechanical and electric systems used in electric vehicles.
This specialist training is followed by a three-month internship at a research laboratory and a six-month professional mission at a company.
26 students in first class
Half of the 26 students in the first class, all with at least an M1 Masters diploma, come from international partner universities of the Renault Foundation1, and thus receive a monthly grant from the Foundation. After 16 months they obtain a Master 2, readying them for a career at transport equipment or passenger transport management firms, automotive manufacturers or engineering offices specialized in town and country planning and transport infrastructure.
Renault founded its Corporate Foundation in 2001 to express the Group’s practical commitment to further education. The role of the Foundation is to create lasting ties between business and academic institutions worldwide by developing and backing original training programs in multicultural management and sustainable mobility.
The Renault Foundation discovers the young talents destined to take the helm at major international groups in the future, thereby creating with its finest partner universities a unique global network of more than 500 professionals, that is enhanced with 70 new students each year.
ParisTech – the Paris Institute of Science and Technologies – is a research and further education centre consisting of 12 founding-member schools (AgroParistech, Arts et Métiers ParisTech, Chimie ParisTech, Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, Ecole Polytechnique, ENSAE ParisTech, ENSTA ParisTech, ESPCI ParisTech, HEC Paris, Institut d’Optique Graduate school, MINES ParisTech, and Télécom ParisTech). Its objectives are to attract and train the best talents and develop world-class further education and research.
Renault, the Renault Foundation and ParisTech created the Sustainable Mobility Institute in 2009 to conduct research on the future of passenger transport. Promoting research on the design of innovative mobility systems and training for top-level executives and scientists, the Institute aims to respond to the needs of manufacturers in the transport industry and the scientific and technological challenges involved in sustainable transport.
