REpower and Akka Vind AB sign contract for wind farm project in Skåne province

REpower Systems AG (WKN 617703) has concluded its second wind energy contract within a short time in Sweden. The wind power contract provides for the delivery of three wind turbines to Akka Vind AB, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fred. Olsen Renewables AB.

The REpower MM92 wind turbines, each with a rated power of 2 megawatts (MW) and a hub height of 68.5 meters, are destined for the wind farm project Kiaby near Kristianstad in the Skåne province. They are to be delivered and commissioned by fall 2011.

Each wind turbine produces up to 6.5 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of pure electricity per year. "We’re proud to be working with such a global and successful partner like Fred. Olsen for the first time and we are pleased to be implementing already our second wind power project in Sweden, roughly two months after starting our business here”, says Per Hornung Pedersen, Chief Market Officer of REpower Systems AG.

“This is our first ‘in house’ developed wind energy project in Sweden and is a first step to build a larger activity within operations in Sweden. We very much look forward to the cooperation with REpower”, says Mats Sjöberg, VD for Fred. Olsen Renewables AB.

In September, REpower opened an office in Västerås, roughly 100 km west of Stockholm and entered the Swedish market with its wholly owned subsidiary REpower Systems Scandinavia AB.
