GM?s Volt Electric Vehicle and Navistar?s eStar All Electric Truck Take Center Stage at EUEC 2011

The new generation electric vehicles (EVs) from General Motors and Navistar will be on exhibit at EUEC 2011, the USA’s largest energy, utility and environment conference being held at the Phoenix Convention Center from January 31 through February 2, 2011. GM’s new extended-range electric Chevrolet Volt, its gas-powered version, the Chevrolet Cruze, and Navistar’s new all-electric commercial truck, eStar, will be on display during the EUEC Exhibition

Admission to the exhibition to see these EVs is free from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 31, and Tuesday, February 1. Reduced rate registration for the full three-day conference is open though January 28. More than 1,500 delegates are registered to date.

“GM and Navistar are examples of industry leaders bringing their new technology and innovation to the EUEC exhibition and conference to be part of this collaboration. Also our technical program, with more than 600 speakers, offers a session dedicated to ideas related to electric and hybrid electric vehicles with speakers from EV Connect, Navistar and Eaton Corporation,” Dayal added.

The Chevrolet Volt is an extended range electric vehicle that operates in two modes: battery-powered EV mode and gas-powered extended range mode. The EV mode offers an initial range of about 35 miles with the gas-powered extended range mode totaling up to 375 miles. Unlike other hybrids, the Volt is designed to travel longer distances and at up to 100 mph in EV mode. The Chevrolet Cruze is the lower cost, high efficiency gas-powered version of the Volt.

Navistar’s eStar is an all-electric truck and is the first medium-duty commercial vehicle to be certified as a clean fuel fleet vehicle by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The California Air Resources Board certified the eStar as a zero emissions vehicle. This class 2c-3 electric truck has a rage of about 100 miles per charge making it suitable for many citywide applications. It can be plugged in and fully recharged in 6 to 8 hours.

EUEC is an annual energy, utility and environment conference organized jointly by a team of directors from the US EPA, US DOE, EPRI, and EEI. EUEC 2011 is the 14th annual conference, making it the largest and longest running professional networking and educational event of its kind in the United States.
