Mike Ford Named Vice President of Sales at Broadwind Energy

Broadwind Energy, Inc. (Nasdaq:BWEN) promoted Mike Ford, 43, to vice president of sales, effective January 27, 2011. In this newly created role, Ford will lead Broadwind’s efforts to provide integrated solutions to its wind energy and industrial customers.

“Mike will focus his efforts on developing Broadwind’s unified sales strategy and approach to expand our presence in the wind power, oil and gas and mining markets,” said Broadwind President and CEO Peter C. Duprey. “Mike most recently led the team that developed our drivetrain service center in Abilene, Texas, which combines our gearing expertise with our robust portfolio of services. Now, Mike’s leadership will help us further build our sales organization as we seek new markets and additional synergies across Broadwind.”

Prior to the drivetrain service center project, Ford served as sourcing and special projects leader in Broadwind’s wind gearing and services business. He joined Broadwind in 2008 from GE Energy’s global sourcing team, where he served as lean leader. Ford previously served as global commodity leader for GE Energy Wind. Ford began his career with Siemens Energy and Automation as a master scheduler and manufacturing manager.

“I look forward to this new challenge to help drive growth in new markets and to develop relationships with new customers in our traditional manufacturing segments of the business,” said Ford. “With our unique set of solutions that enable domestic energy, Broadwind is ready to help customers leverage their energy and infrastructure investments.”

Ford holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and a Master of Science degree in Industrial Management from Clemson University in Clemson, SC.
