Three New Wind Energy Plants Start Operations in Spain

Enel Green Power’s three new wind farm plants have commenced operation in the Andalusia and Castilla-Leon regions of Spain. The three wind power facilities will produce nearly 260 million kWh in total per year, which can satisfy the energy demands of over 95,000 homes.

The 50-MW Cogollos wind farm situated in the Castilla-Leon region comprises 25 numbers of 2-MW Gamesa G-87 wind turbines. Its output power is 140 million kWh per year that can fulfill the energy demands of more than 51,000 homes. It will save nearly 52,000 TOE of fossil fuel and eliminate 104,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

The 20-MW installed capacity of Los Barrancos plant is situated in Andalusia and comprises 10 2-MW 10 Gamesa G-87 wind turbines. Its anticipated output power is about 55 million kWh, equal to the energy usage of more than 20,000 families. It will eradicate 40,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year. With these three new plants, the total installed wind power capacity of Enel Green Power in Iberia will attain 1,380 MW.

The El Puntal wind power facility is also located in the Andalusia region and has an installed capacity of 26 MW. It consists of 13 Gamesa G-87 2-MW each wind turbines. It will generate about 65 million kWh annually, equivalent to the power consumption of 24,000 families. It will save nearly 24,000 TOE of fossil fuel and 48,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
