Metro Launches Next-Generation Nickel Metal Hybride Power System

NiMH power systems, pioneered by Metro, were the first advanced chemistries designed to provide a revolutionary combination of long runtimes, high energy capacity and low weight. Compared with traditional sealed lead acid (SLA) batteries, the next-generation NiMH system announced today offers:

* Long runtimes of 11 – 13 hours – more than adequate for an 8-hour shift.
* Longer life-span, providing 2,000 cycles – enough to be a true multi-year solution. Because the power system will last as long as the workstation’s PC and other integrated technology, it can be replaced efficiently as part of an overall refresh of the unit’s equipment. By comparison, SLA batteries will need to be replaced at least 6 – 7 times over a similar time span.
* Lighter weight, which makes it easier for clinical staff to maneuver mobile computing workstations over a full shift.

The NiMH batteries are backed by a two-year warranty. Metro DC mobile computing workstations are backed by a five-year coverage for mechanical components and two-year coverage on electrical components.
