Global Wind Power’s main scope of activity is the wind turbine projects realization, and so far four projects have been implemented in Bulgaria with a total capacity of 62 MW in the area of Kavarna, Kamen Briag, Shabla and Balchik.
Global Wind Power Bulgaria has successfully completed the construction and implementation of its latest, forth in a row, wind turbine project for the last four years. The wind park consists of five 2 MW wind turbines VESTAS V-90 and has been energized and connected to E.ON grid as of the middle of September 2011. The wind park is located in the land field of Hrabrovo village nearby Balchik. The construction works were completed in partnership with Global Wind Power’s long-term partner on the Bulgarian market – ABC Wind Farm, part of Long Man Holding.
After the energizing of the five wind turbines and start of producing green energy, Global Wind Power has undertaken the technical and administrative management of the wind park on behalf of end investors. The second stage of the Hrabrovo project – another two 2 MW VESTAS wind turbines will be connected to the grid in March 2012, thus increasing the total capacity of the Hrabrovo wind farm up to 14 MW.
In 2011 Global Wind Power realised its first wind power projects in Romania, and in 2012 their number will increase considerably with the installation of another two wind parks with a total capacity of 120 MW. The potential of the Romanian market will allow the installation of 180 MW wind power capacity from the company portfolio in the next two years, which will convert Global Wind Power in one of the leading companies on Romanian wind power market.
In the spring of 2011 the company has also opened an office in Istanbul which will coordinate the wind turbines project activities in Turkey and the neighbouring countries.
Vestas, the world leader in wind energy, installed in Bulgaria more than 300 wind turbines as per June 2011, having 2 offices in Sofia and Varna.
Every single day, Vestas delivers clean energy that supports the global fight against climate change. Wind power from Vestas’ around 44,500 wind turbines currently reduces carbon emissions by approximately 50 million tons of CO2 every year, while at the same time building energy security and independence.
End of 2011 Vestas have installed wind turbines in 67 countries, providing jobs for more than 20,000 passionate people at its service and project sites, research facilities, factories and offices all over the world.
One of the countries where Vestas extended recently its business is Ukraine – the first turbine was installed in 2011 for the Novorossiske project in the Kherson region in southern Ukraine, near the Black Sea, which was a V112 model. This Vestas’ successful newest onshore turbine model launched for sales in 2011, was sold around the world with more 1400 MW until the end of 2011.
Another important Eastern-European Market where Vestas is very active is Romania, where the company delivered 330 turbines until June 2011.
The company has also many environmental friendly initiatives and projects, among them Vestas received recently two international awards for creating the first global renewable energy consumer label, WindMade™.
WindMade™ is gaining immediate traction with global brands such as Motorola Mobility, Deutsche Bank, Becton Dickinson and Bloomberg now committing to procure substantial amounts of wind energy. WindMade™ is the first independent consumer label successfully developed by a corporation and is also the first consumer label to be officially endorsed by the UN Global Compact.
The WindMade idea was conceived in Vestas during 2010 and publicly announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2011.
The next priorities for the WindMade™ organization are to increase the global corporate membership and expand the label program. Currently, organizations can certify their global operations and individual locations WindMade™. A separate product label, that will allow companies to mark their products as WindMade™, is under development and consumers can expect to see the first WindMade™ products hitting the shelves in 1H 2012.
