Concentrated Solar Power Company Infinia Raises $4 Million

Founded in 1985, Infinia recently relocated its headquarters and manufacturing operations from Kennesaw, Wash. to Ogden. Earlier this year, the company completed the first commercial installation of the PowerDish, which combines a free-piston Stirling engine with a dish-style solar concentrator to produce 3.2kW of “grid-quality” AC power.

The company has now entered into what its CEO, Mike Ward, called “a manufacturing-centric phase,” in an article published by Mid-Columbia News.

Infinia claims its system is the world’s first solar-power generation product suitable for “automotive-scale manufacturing and deployment,” ranging from single units for end-users to thousands of units deployed in utility-scale solar power plants. Infinia still maintains a research and development and a government business in Kennewick with about 15 employees.
