Voltalia won 170 MW of wind energy in Brazil

These 170MW which will be in production by the end of 2015 are made of two groups of projects located in the North-East region of Brazil.

The first group of 110 MW, called JERICOACOARA and CRUZ, is located in the CEARA state and features an average producible* of 3400h/year.

The second group of 60MW, called AREA BRANCA, is located in the RIO GRANDE DO NORTE state which offers an average producible* of 3900h/year.

The North-East of Brazil is well known to be amongst the windiest areas worldwide. These two bundles of projects enjoy a significant power generation potential since as for comparison the average wind production time in France is at around 2200h/year.

The JERICACOARA and CRUZ bundle will be implemented with CHESF, subsidiary of the state utility ELECTROBRAS, and regional electricity producer as well as with Encalso Construcões, a Brazilian construction and real estate company. The second bundle of projects will remain 100% owned by Voltalia.

Voltalia do Brazil had already won 150MW of wind energy in the RIO GRANDE DO NORTE state at the last August power tender which will be in production in 2014.

This new success strengthens VOLTALIA positioning in Brazil and lead to 320MW of wind energy being implemented by Voltalia do Brazil and be in production sequentially in 2014 for 150MW and by 2015 for the balance of 170MW.

A producer of electricity based on renewable energies, Voltalia both develops and operates hydraulic, wind-powered, biomass and solar energy projects. Voltalia is present in France, Guyana, Brazil and Greece.
