Wind power in Brazil: 65 wind farm plants in Ceará in 2016

Ceará currently is the leading producer of wind energy in Brazil, with 17 wind farms. For 2014, the state will have an almost 43% of the wind farm capacity.

Ceará promises to excel in wind power generation. The entities involved praise the wind power development in the state. Ceará will be 65 wind farms by 2016, according to the Brazilian Wind Energy Association (ABEEólica).

Brazil is already the largest wind power market in Latin America. All major manufacturers of wind turbines are or on their way: Enercon, Impsa, Vestas, Gamesa, Suzlon, Alstom, Goldwind, Sinovel, GE and Siemens.

Currently there are 17 operational wind farms in Ceará, followed by Rio Grande do Norte. ABEEólica notes that Brazil will have by 2014 an installed wind power capacity of 7,000 MW, of which 3,000 will correspond to Ceará.
