Brazil, the largest wind energy market in Latin America

Fuhrländer, a German wind power, expects to sign about 900 million reais worth of sales wind farm in Brazil. Wind turbines with 400 megawatts of total wind energy capacity will be supplied to three wind farm developers from a factory Fuhrlander is building in northeast Brazil, according to Bloomberg.

The wind energy company will begin construction in March on a 20 million-real factory in the city of Pecem that initially will be able to produce 20 wind turbines a month.

The wind farm developers are Fuhrlander’s first customers in Brazil. They are among the companies that won contracts to sell power in a December auction. The wind farms must be complete by 2016, he said.

Calls Location Licenses (LL), published in the Gazette, refer to the environmental impact analysis. After obtaining the permits, the wind power companies can participate in the power auction A-3, which performed the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL).

Bahia has 57 wind power projects underway in the state. The wind farm projects involve an investment of 6,5 billion reais and the creation of between 400 and 600 jobs during construction. When wind farms are operating, 1,418 MW will be added to the network.

It is expected that in September 2012 has 18 wind farms in operation. Wind farms were engaged in auctions during the years 2009, 2010 and 2011.
