Mexico could install 12,000 MW of wind farm capacity by 2020

According to the the Mexican Wind Energy Association, a study of the country’s wind energy sector indicates that a goal of 15 percent share of the total electricity mix by 2020 is feasible.

The wind turbines sector is expected to create 45,000 jobs in the areas of components and supply of specialized services.

The study reportedly shows that Mexico has sites with conditions for installing at least 12,000 MW of wind farm capacity with a few adjustments to the current regulatory framework. To date, 1,000 MW of the proposed total has been installed, the article said.
