Iberdrola Engineering and Construction Poland Sp. z o.o., the engineering and construction contractor/tenderer, is one of the key players worldwide in the wind energy sector. Tauron Polska Energia S.A. is the end-owner of the Marszewo project and the second largest utility in Poland.
“We are very pleased with the confidence Iberdrola and Tauron are showing us by choosing Vestas as partner on the 82 MW Marszewo project. It is a sign of Vestas’ continued expansion in Poland, one of our main markets in Northern Europe. We look forward to a close partnership with both Iberdrola and Tauron,” says Klaus Steen Mortensen, President of Vestas Northern Europe.
Vestas’ commitment to the Polish market springs from the country’s great wind power potential and the outlook of a growing Polish market. In fact, Poland is one of the most attractive wind energy markets in Europe due to its excellent wind speed conditions in large areas of the country. According to Emerging Energy Research, Poland has the potential of reaching 7 GW of installed capacity by 2020. This is also underlined in the Polish National Action Plan for Renewable Energy adopted by the Ministry of Economy in 2010.
“It is of great importance to Vestas in Poland to work together with one of the key players in wind power investment and engineering. Being chosen as the supplier for this large project order is part of our efforts to provide Poland with more renewable and clean energy in the future,” says Kim Søe, Vice President of Vestas Poland.
