L&T building 200 MW of solar energy projects in India

L&T has secured orders for building over 200 MW of solar power. It is set to reach an installed capacity of 112 MW by April. L&T’s record covers 10 projects in the last two years. The largest solar energy project commissioned is a 25-MW solar power photovoltaic (PV) plant at Charankha in Gujarat, using tier-1 crystalline PV technology.

A 40-MW solar power plant using thin film technology is being built at Pokhran in Rajasthan. The unit will be one of the largest solar power plants commissioned so far, L&T said.

Among the 66 MW of projects commissioned in Gujarat, L&T set up a 10-MW tracker-based crystalline plant in Surendranagar district. The plant uses tier-1 crystalline PV modules and single axis trackers.

L&T’s capabilities include design, fixed and tracker structure manufacturing and cost-effective plant construction for PV and concentrated solar power.

L&T said it was also equipped to bring in local and foreign financial assistance for developers of utility scale solar power plants in India. L&T expects to secure another 200 MW of solar energy projects next year on EPC basis, which will take its cumulative tally to 400 MWs.
