Continuing the development of its operations in Europe, EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the commissioning of asolar power plant, with an installed capacity of 60 MWp, at Crucey located in the Centre region of France. This innovative project also enabled the convertion of a military wasteland.

Located close to Chartres, in the French department of Eure-et-Loir, the Crucey solar photovoltaic plant is equipped with around 741,150 next-generation “thin-film” photovoltaic panels, manufactured by First Solar.

This innovative project also sees the redevelopment of disused and polluted land on a former NATO air base into.

The solar power plant generates electricity equivalent to that consumed by of around 28,000 people, and adequates to around 4,600 fewer tonnes of CO2 emitted per year.

The power plant, whose project started in 2009, has been developed and built by EDF EN France and has been put into service gradually since May 2012.

It will be operated and maintained by EDF EN Services, a subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles.
