Wind energy industry hails Ohio’s energy jobs initiative

The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), representing 2,000 companies in all aspects of wind energy, is praising the state of Ohio’s new initiative to connect Ohioans seeking education and jobs in energy with specific training and employment opportunities that match their needs and interests.

OhioEnergyPathways.org features information about a variety of energy sectors, as well as jobs in energy efficiency, to help those who are interested in such careers connect with training programs and employers throughout Ohio. Featured content areas include:

  • Advanced energy
  • Renewable energy
  • Energy efficiency
  • Oil and gas

Ohio has become a manufacturing powerhouse for the wind energy industry. Many of the skills Ohio workers possess easily transfer to wind energy manufacturing, providing thousands of new jobs in the wind energy industry in Ohio.

“This is an exciting new state-of-the-art resource for a state that is leading the way in energy jobs,” said Denise Bode, CEO of AWEA.

“The Kasich administration is putting Ohio on the right track to boost energy sector investment, production and hiring in the state. Now job seekers are just a click away from connecting with employers who are looking to hire people with the skills and experience to strengthen Ohio’s leadership in renewable energy,” Bode said.

“Investment in wind power is an investment in jobs, in operations and maintenance, construction, manufacturing, and many support sectors. Wind power projects also make lease payments to landowners and increase the tax base of communities, supporting schools, roads, and public safety workers. The new OhioEnergyPathways.org website is a great resource to maximize on this investment, and ensure that Ohio continues to lead the way towards development of a homegrown, clean and abundant energy future.”
