Alstom will supply 19 ECO 122 wind turbines for CPFL Renováveis wind farm in Brazil

Alstom has signed a contract with CPFL Renováveis1 , to deliver, erect and commission 19 ECO 122 wind turbines in the wind complex Pedra Cheirosa, located in Ceará State, in the northeast of Brazil.

The contract was signed in the framework of the last A-5 auction2  system in Brazil, which is related to projects that have to operate in the coming 5 years. The wind turbines will be ready for the commercial operation in December of 2017.

It’s the first wind project of Alstom with CPFL Renováveis. The wind farms will generate 50 MW, an amount that can bring energy to around 100.000 people. The ECO 122 wind turbines will be produced at Alstom manufacturing unit in Camaçari (Bahia State).

ECO 122 is the latest evolution of Alstom’s proven ECO 100 and the result of more than 30 years of experience in wind turbine design. All Alstom wind turbines are based upon the unique and proven ALSTOM PURE TORQUE® rotor support concept that protects the drive train from deflection loads, ensuring higher reliability and lower maintenance costs.

Brazil is continuing to take advantage of its tremendous wind energy potential. The partnership with CPFL Renováveis is a confirmation of our local strategy, which is to improve the use of renewable sources, develop sustainable projects, and focus on creating jobs”, says Yves Rannou Senior Vice President of Alstom Wind business.

Alstom builds and operates wind farms globally – more than 2,600 turbines are currently installed or under construction in more than 200 wind farms, delivering over 5,000 MW. Alstom designs and manufactures onshore and offshore wind turbines in a range from 1.67 MW to 6 MW, providing solutions for all geographical and climate conditions.
