Vestas receives a 34 MW wind turbines order for a wind farm in Turkey

Kangal Elektrik Uretim A.S, a subsidiary of Ece Tur Construction, has placed a 34 MW order to construct the second phase of the Kangal RES wind power plant in the Sivas province, Turkey.

The firm and unconditional order comprises the supply and installation of 17 units of the V110-2.0 MW wind turbine corresponding to 34 MW. The contract also includes an eight-year full scope Active Output Management (AOM 4000) service agreement. Turbine delivery is scheduled for the third quarter of 2015, with commissioning expected in the fourth quarter of 2015.

This is the second phase of Kangal Elektrik’s ambitious first wind project. The first phase, Kangal RES, is already operating with 22 V100-2.0 MW wind turbines providing green energy to approximately 227,000 people in Turkey. Once fully operational, the second phase of this project will provide additional electricity capacity to power approximately 200,000 people in the country.

Wind energy is leading the way to a renewable energy future in Turkey. Vestas is proud to have installed nearly 800 MW of wind power capacity in this country. The Kangal RES II wind farm is another step forward to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preventing the most severe impacts of climate change as well as lessening the dependency on energy imports”, states Marco Graziano, President of Vestas Mediterranean.

Vestas has been the pioneer in the Turkish wind energy market since it started operating in the country in 1984. Employing more than 100 employees, Vestas Turkey has a sales office and three service and maintenance centers in Çatalca-?stanbul, Band?rma-Bal?kesir and Hatay.
