Enercon takes 43% of Germany wind energy market

Despite the drop in wind power market share, compared with its share of 49.9% or 1496.2MW of total German installed onshore wind energy capacity of 2,998.41MW in 2013, Enercon’s installations were up by 551MW in 2014.

Vestas followed in 2014 with a 23.7% share, or 1,126MW, also a substantial 526MW increase on performance in 2013 when it had a 20% share, or 600MW of the market.

Senvion accounted for 14.8% or 703MW in 2014 compared with a 16.2% share in 2013 or 486MW. Nordex share was 8.7% or 413.3MW in 2014, after 8.4% or 252MW in 2013.

The top four Enercon, Vestas, Senvion and Nordex accounted for 90.2% of the market in 2014, after they together took a 94.5% market share in 2013.

Some of this was accounted for by GE, which made its mark in 2014 with 4.9% or 233MW. In 2013, GE had just 1.1% of the market or only 33MW.

It was followed by Siemens in 2014 with 2.3% or 109.3MW, after a 1.3% share in 2013 or 40MW.

Vensys and ENO Energy were at the tail end of the 2014 market with shares of 1% each, both having shares too small in 2013 to be mentioned in the data.
