Wind energy in Chile: Elecnor to build largest wind farm with 56 wind turbines

Elecnor signed an $81 million contract to build the largest wind farm in Chile, a facility that will have 184.8 MW of installed generating capacity.

The contract with Latin American Power, or LAP, covers the construction of the San Juan wind farm in Atacama region, Elecnor said in a filing with the National Securities Commission, or CNMV.

The Spanish company will be responsible for engineering, supply management and construction of the wind farm and an 84-kilometer (52-mile) network of power lines, as well as the construction of a substation and its connection to the national grid in Chile.

Elecnor, which operates in more than 40 countries, provides engineering, development and construction services for infrastructure projects.

The company is also involved in the development of renewable energy, energy infrastructure, environmental and space projects.
