This Memorial Day, we honor veterans in the wind energy industry

On Memorial Day, we honor those that have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Many of those in the wind industry have risked their lives as veterans or active duty members of the military, and I’m proud to say that I am one of them.

There are many reasons why veterans are a natural fit for the wind industry. When you serve in the military, you become a part of a tight-knit community, a lot like in the wind industry.

Being a veteran, we served to protect our country for its beliefs and freedoms. In the wind industry, there are many veterans and our end product provides substantial protection and benefits for our climate and our health. Carbon pollution is our common enemy, and it is overloading our atmosphere which will trap heat, steadily drive up the planet’s temperature, and create significant and harmful impacts on our health, our environment, and our climate.

By playing a role in the wind industry, I am proud of not only in helping to protect my country but also helping protect the Earth.

When veterans come back to the civilian world, they are a natural fit for the wind industry. I believe that the majority of our veterans are honest, loyal, trainable, dependable, hard-working, team-oriented, and good leaders. All these characteristics are listed in the top business books on what to look for in employees for hire.

From Technicians to Senior Management, I believe veterans are a natural fit for this industry because of the core beliefs and practices that the military structure installs in them during the timeframe that they serve.
