Siemens Wins Wind power Order for $182 Million Australian Wind Farm

Siemens AG, Europe’s largest engineering company, won an order to supply 100 megawatts of wind turbines to a A$250 million ($182 million) wind farm in Australia.

Siemens will supply 32 of its systems to Neoen Australia Pty Ltd. for its wind farm in Hornsdale in the country’s south, the Munich-based company said Thursday in a statement on its website. Neoen’s project will eventually produce enough power for at least 70,000 homes.

Australia pledged this month to slash emissions at least 26 percent by 2030 as nations set goals ahead of United Nations climate talks in Paris this December. Critics say the pledge doesn’t go far enough, with the country’s Climate Change Authority calling for a cut of 40 percent to 60 percent.
