Planning to invest in wind energy? Get to New York Oct. 14 – 15

More than $100 billion in private investment has been injected into the U.S. economy since 2008 by private investors helping to grow new U.S. wind farm projects across the country.

The rapid growth of wind energy in the U.S. from around one percent in 2008 to supplying nearly five percent today has resulted in a new area where investors can put their money. And as American wind power has grown, so have the ways in which investors can place that money.

The American Wind Energy Association’s (AWEA) annual Wind Energy Investment & Finance Seminar in New York is one of the best events all year that bankers and financial leaders can learn about this rapidly changing world.

This year’s seminar is right around on the corner, Oct. 14 – 15, and will allow attendees to gain insight into investor timelines, explore emerging markets for investors and developers, examine how policy impacts wind industry finance and learn how to capitalize on growth trends.

Judith A. Enck, Administrator, Region 2 Office, of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will kick things off with the keynote address at 1 p.m. on Wed., Oct. 14. She will be joined by John Eber, Managing Director-Energy Investments for J.P. Morgan and AWEA CEO Tom Kiernan in delivering welcome remarks.

Other featured speakers include representatives from Synapse Energy Economics, Bank of America, Altenex LLC, SunEdison, Pattern Energy Group, TerraForm Power, DNV GL, AWS TruePower, UpWind Solutions, Clean Line Energy Partners, Blattner Energy, Vestas Americas, EDF Renewables, Invenergy, Marathon Capital LLC, EDP Renewables North America, Akin Gump, LLP, Rabobank Group, Morrison & Forester, and more.

The seminar will dive into hot topics like the importance of having stable policy, including the critically important Production Tax Credit (PTC), in helping to drive the billions of dollars in private investment needed to help grow wind power. In fact, the need for having stable policy led to over 2,000 business voices calling on Congress recently to extend the tax extenders package this year, and that includes an extension of the PTC.

Other topics include new market opportunities associated with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Power Plan, the first-ever rules to cut carbon emissions from existing U.S. power plants and other trending topics such as YieldCo’s and successful U.S. companies investing in new wind farms.
