Vestas to build 1,000 wind turbines for Iowa wind farm

Vestas

announced that it was selected as the sole provider for a major new wind farm in Iowa.
They entered into a conditional agreement with MidAmerican Energy to supply as many as 1,000 new wind turbines for project which is pending approval by the Iowa Public Utilities Commission.

MidAmerican is a first of it’s kind utility that plans to provide customers with power completely generated by renewable sources. The bulk of that electricity will come from wind.

“This project, if approved, will bring considerable economic benefits to MidAmerican’s rate payers and communities, and Vestas is proud to partner with MidAmerican Energy in their commitment to generate 100 percent renewable energy,” said Chris Brown, President of Vestas’ sales and service division in the United States and Canada.

Vestas employs around 500 workers in at their tower manufacturing plant in Pueblo.
