Chad introduces advanced photovoltaic (PV) system with Aptech Africa

Chad has taken a significant step towards a sustainable energy future with the inauguration of a new photovoltaic system installed by Aptech Africa. The ceremony, attended by the Minister of Water and Energy, Passalé Kanabé Marcelin, government officials, representatives of Aptech Africa and members of the local community, underlines the country’s commitment to expanding access to clean and reliable energy.
In his speech, Minister Kanabé highlighted the symbolic importance of the photovoltaic system and stated: “We are determined to promote renewable energy as the cornerstone of our development. This photovoltaic system is not only an energy solution; “It is a symbol of progress for our country.” His comments highlight the government’s recognition of renewable energy as a key driver of progress and a cornerstone of Chad’s future.

The advanced PV system, designed and installed by Aptech Africa, features a 78 kWp ground-mounted stand-alone solar PV mini-grid with a 324 kWh storage battery bank, using Ulica solar modules, Alpha ESS inverters and ion batteries lithium. The system includes a remote monitoring feature that provides real-time updates on performance. A key aspect of the minigrid is its distribution line, which extends access to electricity to communities far from the main electrical grid.
This PV mini-grid project will benefit more than 100 people in local communities, schools and medical institutions, transforming the region’s energy landscape and addressing previous energy shortages. It also serves as a model for replication and scalability in Chad and beyond.
The project is more than a simple solution to current energy needs; represents a foundation for the future. “Together, we can build a future where all communities have access to clean and reliable energy, while preserving our environment for future generations,” said Aptech Africa, reaffirming its commitment to a sustainable and prosperous Chad.
