ScottishPower and Siemens Gamesa sign offshore wind energy deal

ScottishPower has awarded Siemens Gamesa a wind turbine supply contract valued over £1 billion for its East Anglia TWO offshore wind farm.

The 64 wind turbines’ blades, each 115 meters long, will be manufactured at Siemens Gamesa’s factory in Hull, providing significant employment, with around 1,300 jobs secured in the region.
East Anglia TWO will generate up to 960 MW, enough to power nearly one million homes, and is part of a £4 billion investment by ScottishPower in clean energy.

ScottishPower has committed to doubling its UK investment to £24 billion between 2024 and 2028, furthering its support for the clean energy sector.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Energy Secretary Ed Miliband praised the project for advancing the UK’s clean energy goals, strengthening energy security, and creating jobs.

The East Anglia TWO windfarm is part of ScottishPower’s larger East Anglia project portfolio, which collectively aims to provide enough green energy to power over three million homes.
