India’s largest floating solar photovoltaic project commissioned in Madhya Pradesh at 126 MW

Tata Power Renewable Energy has commissioned a 126 MW floating PV project in Madhya Pradesh, a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy sector. The project, completed in 26 months, marks one of the largest floating solar installations in the country. TPREL’s renewable capacity now totals 10.9 GW.
Tata Power Renewable Energy has successfully launched a ground-breaking 126 MW floating solar project in Madhya Pradesh. This significant development underlines India’s continued commitment to expanding its renewable energy capabilities.
The project, valued at Rs 596 crore, was awarded by NHDC Limited and is among the largest floating solar installations in the nation. Located in Khandwa district, the Omkareshwar floating solar project will supply power to Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Limited, further strengthening the region’s energy infrastructure.
This achievement, which was completed in just 26 months, brings TPREL’s total renewable energy capacity to 10.9 GW, with 5.6 GW in various stages of development. Its operational capacity of 5.3 GW includes solar and wind power projects, signifying strong growth in sustainable energy initiatives.
