PPC Renewables places three orders with Nordex for a total of 100 MW of wind power in Greece

Nordex surpasses the 1 GW mark of wind turbines in Greece. In December 2024, PPC Renewables, a 100 percent subsidiary of PPC Group, ordered 19 N149/5.X wind turbines from the Nordex Group in Greece. The wind turbines with hub heights of 100 meters are intended for three projects with a total nominal capacity of 100 MW. The orders also include the Premium Service for the maintenance of the wind turbines for a period of 20 years.

The Rodopi, Livadaki and Timenio wind farms will be built in northern Greece, in the Rhodope Mountains, in the central southern continent in Phocis and in Arcadia on the Peloponnese peninsula. Once completed in 2026, the three wind farms will generate more than 280 GWh, avoiding the emission of more than 142,000 tonnes of CO2.

Thanks to the orders, the Nordex Group has surpassed the 1 GW mark of wind turbines sold in Greece.

“With these new orders we are consolidating our position as a key player in the Greek market. We have surpassed the 1 GW mark of turbines sold and we are proud of this success since we reactivated our business in Greece in 2018. And we are very pleased to now also partner with PPC Renewables. With the Delta4000 series, PPC will gain technology that will optimise the energy production of its wind farms,” says Patxi Landa, CSO of the Nordex Group.

PPC Renewables is a growth pillar for the PPC Group’s green portfolio and a wholly owned subsidiary of PPC. PPC Renewables invests in the power of nature by generating energy from renewable energy sources and storing it. In addition to its large-scale PV and wind projects, the company innovates in South-East Europe through projects covering the full range of renewable energy sources (wind, solar, hydro, geothermal and biomass).

The PPC Group is dynamically advancing in the development of new renewable energy sources, as new wind and PV projects are added to the company’s existing portfolio, which currently has an installed capacity of approximately 5.5 GW. The PPC Group currently has a pipeline of renewable energy source projects under construction or ready to build of approximately 3.8 GW, including the wind farms mentioned above.

Nordex has installed more than 53 GW of wind power capacity in over 40 markets throughout its corporate history and generated consolidated sales of around €6.5 billion in 2023. The company currently has more than 10,200 employees and the Group’s manufacturing network includes factories in Germany, Spain, Brazil, India, the US and Mexico. Nordex’s product portfolio currently focuses on onshore wind turbines between 4 and 6 MW+, designed to meet the market requirements of countries with limited space availability and regions with limited grid capacity.
