The statement came from deputy chairman of the State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Industry and Energy Jamil Melikov. He said the measuring stations are set in 21 points countrywide.

‘We need to clarify the speed and duration of the wind. Based on this information, we will define the appropriate places for developing wind energy’, Melikov said.

The measuring stations are set mostly in the eastern part of the country. Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Industry and Energy has declared terms of commissioning of solar power battery producing facility.

Jamil Melikov said the plant will open by the end of 2011. ‘We are planning to launch it by the end of the year’, Melikov said. The plant is under construction in Sumgayit.
