Suzlon-subsidiary SEFORGE wins wind energy orders

SEFORGE, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Suzlon Energy Limited, engaged in manufacturing of large size castings and large diameter forged and machined rings, has announced major new turbines orders from the wind power totaling over Rs. 200 crore.

Speaking on the orders, Mr. Kamlesh Bhadani, CEO – SEFORGE said: “We are pleased to announce two major third-party orders – the first is of Rs. 120 crore from one of the top three independent wind turbine tower manufacturers for tower flanges, and the second of Rs. 80 crore from one of the world’s top five wind energy players for castings.

“We are witnessing strong growth momentum not only in wind, but also in non-wind sectors like oil and gas, and particularly in markets such as North America. Looking ahead, we expect the oil and gas sector to contribute between 15 and 20 per cent of our forging division’s revenues in FY2012-13. With our cutting edge technology, comprehensive product portfolio and highly competitive offerings, we are well positioned to take advantage of the opportunities in the evolving market place.”

SEFORGE operates two business divisions – Forging, and Foundry. Its state of the art forging facilities in Vadodara, Gujarat, can produce seamless rings of a maximum diameter of 5.2 meters with an annual capacity of about 42,000 rings. The division has established itself as a major supplier of forged and machined rings, used in wind turbine towers, to all major wind players in India. SEFORGE also manufactures rings for use in the oil and gas industry, process industry, steam and gas turbines, as well as for defense and undersea applications.

Its foundry division, based in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, is equipped to produce large size castings, with an annual capacity of 120,000 MT. While large sized castings are primarily utilized in the wind turbine industry, the foundry division is also equipped to supply castings to the aerospace, heavy engineering and power industries. The foundry division has established a line of over 30 specialized products for the wind turbine and gearbox industries.
