Madhya Pradesh to promote solar power

"The government will leave no stone unturned to promote the generation and use of solar energy", said minister for new and renewable energy Ajay Vishnoi while addressing the meeting prospective investors in the solar energy sector here on Friday.

He told the investors that the state government was earnestly doing its best to frame the Solar Energy Policy in the month of March itself. The minister also assured them to hold another round of meeting, if necessary, to further apprise them about the government’s resolve to promote solar energy use. Efforts would be made to ensure that investors did not face any problems in the state, he said. He also sought their suggestions about for the proposed Energy Policy.

The minister also considered the government’s initiative to tap the solar energy as a major achievement of the state after wind energy. The investors also praised the move to organise the meeting for solar energy. They said that efforts of the state government boosted their morale.

The meeting was informed that solar energy can be generated under the policy in five districts of the state bordering Rajasthan including Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Rajgarh and Sheopur.

About 800 megawatts of solar power can be generated in the state after framing of the policy. Sates such as Gujarat, Rajasthan and many other have already been promoting the use of solar energy in the country.
