EnXco acquires Texas wind farm

The construction of the Bobcat Bluff wind energy project, located in Archer County in Texas, south of Wichita Falls, is expected to begin this spring. With a capacity of up to 150 MW, it will be equipped with General Electric 1.5 MW wind turbines. The wind park is expected to enter operations in December 2012.

The uncertainty surrounding the renewal of the Production Tax Credit for wind energy projects post 2012 has created opportunities for EDF Energies Nouvelles to move into regions where it was not already operating. This agreement follows the recent project acquisitions of Spinning Spur (Texas, 161 MW) in January 2012 and Chestnut Flats (Pennsylvania, 38 MW) in December 2011 and allows the Group to boost its production capacity in the United States.

With Shiloh IV, Pacific Wind and Spearville 3 projects, enXco will build and commission more than 650 MW of wind in the United States in 2012.
