Wind power is proving to be a good investment in Illinois

Kevin Borgia, with Wind on the Wires, says that’s because wind energy has no fuel costs so generators can bid very low prices for electricity.

Borgia says coal and other energy companies don’t have the luxury of bidding as low as wind turbines because they have to take fuel costs into account. There are more than 25-hundred megawatts of wind farm generation in Illinois but Borgia says wind energy growth is in danger of tapering off unless Congress extends a Wind Energy Production Tax Credit.
