Team Trev Announce a New Partnership to Showcase Trev To The World

ABN Newswire is the latest sponsor of the University of South Australia-built electric car that will represent Australia in the first zero emissions race around the world, Zero Race (www.zero-race.com), joining other sponsors EcoGreen Electrical and Design Ecology in support of the green machine.

The leading newswire in Asia and with extensive communications networks across Australia, the US and Europe, ABN Newswire will take Team Trev’s eco-message to a global audience.

Commenting about the partnership, ABN Newswire Director Tim Mckinnon says that it is simply a case of two groups getting together to promote common values of sustainability.

"Team Trev embodies the values of innovation and environmental conservation that are important to our company," he says. "Trev challenges the way we think – it is the result of re-examining traditional methods and finding new and more efficient ways to make progress," he says.

"At a time when creating a sustainable environment is at the top of the global agenda, Trev is proof that people can actively participate in creating real solutions. It’s one of the reasons why ABN Newswire is excited about this collaboration and about broadcasting Trev to the world."

Originally designed and built by staff and students at UniSA, and currently being upgraded by a group of Adelaide-based volunteers, the team will set off in June from Shanghai for a 30,000 km journey spanning 20 countries over 80 days of driving.

Team Trev Director Andrew Dickson says that the support of ABN Newswire represents a strong vote of confidence in the team.

"Team Trev is a not-for profit team of volunteers whose key aim is to show the world that there are alternative methods of personal transportation that can protect our environment and save you money," he says.

"Our belief has always been that Trev is a solution to the impending problems of peak oil and climate change. It’s an electric car which can be built by anyone, and can be powered by domestic solar panels. Without the support of sponsors, Team Trev would not make it to Shanghai to start in Zero Race.

"The support of ABN Newswire means that we are one step closer to our dream of delivering Trev’s message to the world."

Weighing just 350kg, Trev is an electric vehicles fraction of the weight of a conventional car, and therefore requires significantly less energy. So little energy, in fact, that Trev will drive around the world carrying two people at an average speed of 80km/h, yet will use less than $400 worth of renewable electricity, with zero emissions.

Team Trev is actively seeking additional sponsors, benefactors and volunteers to help it mount a successful campaign in Zero Race.

Louis Palmer is challenging the world to a race via the The Zero Emission Race. This race is planned to be a thrilling global event that will harness public interest and generate new ways of thinking about mobility, cars and energies. Competitors from all four corners of the globe are invited to drive their own zero emission race cars. Each competitor’s lean, mean, green machine will be designed to run strictly on ‘alternative’ energy.
