Buehler Motor, Inc., to Supply Auxiliary Water Pumps for CODA Automotive Electric Vehicles

Buehler Motor, Inc., a leading international provider of mechatronic drive and pump solutions with a specialty in the hybrid and electric automotive industry, announced its partnership with CODA Automotive to provide customized auxiliary water pumps for the upcoming all-electric car, four passenger sedan scheduled for introduction in California in late 2010. This announcement follows previously announced partnership with GM to provide pump solutions for the Chevy Volt.

Headquartered in Santa Monica, Calif., CODA Automotive is an all-electric car and battery company. The company designs, brands, markets and distributes electric vehicles utilizing a strategy that allows CODA Automotive to develop vehicles rapidly in a flexible manner, avoiding the traditionally capital-intensive nature of the automobile business.

"The CODA sedan and other hybrid-electric vehicles like it represent the future of the automotive industry," said Bob Riedford, president and general manager of Buehler Motor, Inc. "We are proud to offer our engineering expertise and resources to support the accelerated development of CODA’s first all-electric car, and help jump start the electric car movement to address today’s energy and environmental challenges."

Buehler Motor will provide custom 50W auxiliary water pumps that will provide coolant circulation in several vehicle drive train subsystems and related design support. Production of the Buehler water pump has already commenced in Buehler’s German manufacturing facilities. Additional contract details were not released.

"Buehler Motor’s history of providing quality drive and pump solutions for environmentally-friendly products and vehicles made them an ideal partner for CODA," said Kevin Czinger, president and CEO, CODA Automotive. "By leveraging partnerships with Buehler and other key suppliers, CODA is helping to accelerate the electric car movement. The CODA car will be on California roads in late 2010."
