38% Of Spain’s July Electricity Demand Was Met By Wind Power and Solar Energy (PV and Concentrated Solar Power)

Renewable Energies in July covering 37.6% of the demand in Spain: 16.8% wind energy, Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) 4% and solar photovoltaic PV 4.3%.

Solar power and wind energy sector has a bumper output in Spain last month as the two technologies fulfilled more than a third of the country’s total electricity demand.

Renewable energy between January and July 2014 generated 48.4% of the electricity demand in Spain: 22.2% wind power, 2.3% concentrating solar thermal power and photovoltaic solar energy 3.3%.

The mainland electricity demand in July, after taking into account the effects of the timing and temperatures increased by 0.1% over the same month last year. Gross demand of 21,104 GWh was 2.5% lower than in July 2013.

In the first seven months of the year, adjusted for calendar effects and temperatures, consumption was 0.1% higher than last year. Electricity demand in this period was 142 203 GWh, 1.3% less than in the same period of 2013.

The production of wind power the month totaled 3,659 GWh, a 28.7% increase on the same period last year, and has led to 16.8% of total production.

In July the generation from renewable energy represented 37.6% of production.
