GE Continues to Expand Wind Turbines Service Portfolio

The FSA is designed to provide wind turbine owners with total support for their planned and unplanned maintenance and operations needs. The FSA was originally introduced to cover all new GE 2.5xl wind turbines deployed in Europe.

Building on GE’s existing services packages, the new FSA offers additional support to customers looking for the original equipment manufacture (OEM) to take on a more significant role in overall wind farm operations and maintenance.

GE’s service solutions, including the FSA, are supported by the company’s advanced technology resources and global service facilities, and a network of more than 900 skilled, highly trained local technicians who are closely connected to GE’s engineering organization.

The FSA also gives customers access to GE’s suite of turbine upgrades that are based on new product evolutions and the in-depth product knowledge that only an OEM can provide.

"As more wind energy projects are developed around the world and are expected to perform at optimal levels of efficiency and availability, this has created a steadily growing demand for a greater variety of cost-effective and comprehensive service solutions," said Vic Abate, said Diarmaid Mulholland, general manager of wind services for GE Power & Water.

As with GE’s previous service offerings, a key feature of the FSA is guaranteed availability of the wind turbine, which can help turbine owners maximize their return on investment while minimizing operational risks. The FSA provides customers with operational assurance and the opportunity to work together with GE to achieve increased annual energy production and reduced cost of electricity.

"GE’s wind power service solutions have been designed to offer optimal life-cycle support for our entire wind turbine portfolio," said Diarmaid Mulholland, general manager of wind services for GE Power & Water. "Expanding the FSA to our global fleet of 1.6 MW turbines will allow more of our customers to maximize the performance of their existing units, which adds project security and the ability to better plan their total maintenance costs."

GE’s FSA is just one element in a broader suite of services available for GE’s global wind turbine fleet. Working collaboratively with GE, customers can customize their service program, taking advantage of GE’s global resources, local technicians and complete package of services. GE’s service capabilities include all planned maintenance activities, such as remote monitoring and troubleshooting, routine services, preventative maintenance, on-site support and parts support and unplanned maintenance such as uptower inspection and repair, condition monitoring, turbine performance and life extension solutions.
