Wind power Gamesa receives certification from GL Renewables certification

The company is also working to obtain certification for the low-temperature version of the wind turbines for use in the United States and Canada, and is in the process of certifying its 4.5 MW (G10X) wind turbines.

Gamesa has received certification for its G90 Class II wind turbine from GL Renewables Certification (GL), one of the world’s leading wind energy industry certification bodies.

As part of the certification process, the turbine passed a product design review, a power curve test and verification of the load assumptions by prototype measurements, in accordance with GL2003 certification guidelines. Gamesa certifies its wind energy systems and wind turbines with accredited certification bodies such as GL.

This process allows the company to convey to the market and financial institutions, through the opinion of an independent third party, the integrity of its products’ design, development, manufacturing and construction.

The company has obtained GL 2003 certification for its G5X and G8X systems, and is currently working to gain certification for the low-temperature version of the G90 wind turbine for use in the US and Canada. Similarly, it is in the process of gaining certification for its latest design, the Gamesa G10X 4.5 MW platform.

With more than 15 years’ experience in renewable energy technologies, primarily wind power, Gamesa is a world leader in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of wind turbines.

Gamesa has installed more than 18,000 MW throughout the world. The annual equivalent of this wind energy output amounts to more than 4 million tonnes of oil (toe) per year and prevents the emission into the atmosphere of about 27 million tonnes of CO2 per year.

The company is also a global benchmark in the market for the development, construction and sale of wind farms, with more than 3,500 MW installed and a wind farm portfolio totalling 22,000 MW at varying stages of development in Europe, America and Asia.

With 30 manufacturing facilities in Europe, the USA, China and India, and 4,400 MW of annual manufacturing capacity, Gamesa has an international workforce of more than 6,300 people.

GL Renewables Certification, part of the GL Group, is a leading certification body primarily focussed on the certification of wind farms, wind turbines and their components. As the forefront of understanding in renewables technology, it is abreast of all the necessary standards and requirements and takes a harmonised approach in ensuring that these are met. Manufactorers, banks and insurers around the world rely on the state-of-the-art service provided by GL Renewables Certification.
