WindTronics today announced an alliance with the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and local NECA chapters to facilitate the installation of the Honeywell Wind Turbine, a gearless, frictionless and virtually silent small wind turbine for homes and businesses. WindTronics’ alliance with this major North American electrical contracting association will help bring clean technology to homes and businesses throughout the nation.
‘WindTronics’ mission is to bring wind power to every community in America and we certainly need the skilled help of electrical workers to make that a reality,’ said Brian Levine, vice president of development and marketing at WindTronics. ‘Clean technology represents one of the fastest growing and most innovative sectors in our economy and today’s electricians form the backbone of the installation infrastructure.’
As the country’s leading association of green energy specifiers and installers, NECA has created a unified professional training program for American electrical workers, resulting in a national standard for apprentices and electricians. NECA members will bring WindTronics a wealth of renewable energy technology and installation experience. Its highly skilled workforce is continually trained in safety and new energy applications.
This alliance represents a major step in providing easy access to wind energy and will help create hundreds of green jobs for years to come. With thousands of Honeywell Wind Turbines to be sold in 2011, WindTronics expects the installation of the turbine will generate demand for hundreds of thousands of new skilled electrical contractor hours next year. This number will significantly increase as national adoption of this renewable energy technology grows.
‘There’s no doubt that the nation is focusing on clean, renewable energy and today’s electrical workers must be properly trained on the latest technology in order to continue to satisfy consumer demand,’ said John M. Grau, NECA CEO. ‘WindTronics’ is accessing a ready-made workforce provided by our members, making it easier for everyone to take advantage of wind power, whatever the size of the project.’
The Honeywell Wind Turbine’s Blade Tip Power System, which captures power at the tips of the blades where speed is the greatest, was developed to enable renewable energy around the world. Weighing less than 185 pounds and measuring only six feet in diameter, the Honeywell Wind Turbine produces an average of 1500 kWh per year (plus or minus depending on site location, height and wind speed).
